Youthline America is building a safe, interactive communication system for young people.
Youthline America is now refining products, programs and partnerships that will harness the collective intelligence of young people, and adapt emerging technologies while creating a 21st Century workforce of youth. These products and programs are:
A process in which youth and adults from across America identify opportunities and services in their neighborhood for young people, children and families. This process provides both information about needs and resources and increases public awareness of the effort to create a national web-based youth information and referral service.
The collected data from Mapping America will be the basis for this website, providing youth and adults easy access to information specific to their address and zip code. This website will allow young people and adults to generate, analyze and utilize this information for themselves, their peers and their communities.
A toll-free confidential line linked to the website and available 24 hours a day will be established. Youth Listeners each prepared with more than 100 hours of training will Listen, Inform and Problem-Solve, as they provide resources, opportunities and connections. They will provide a positive, non-judgmental outlet that gives young people the safe space to talk to their peers about their everyday needs, hopes, and concerns and give them access to peer rated services.
A virtual tool kit for youth, educators, and community organizations on how to target and leverage the high school graduation ceremony as a natural entry point for recognizing the importance of registering, voting, and connecting to their community.
Youthline America is currently supported by the Surdna and W.K. Kellogg Foundations. A small national team manages the creation and development of the projects and is informed by a large network of local experts in the public and private sectors across the country. The technology based projects offer the opportunity for existing local resources and networks to mobilize around these efforts.
Youthline America views these emerging products as primal civic engagement that will result in more youth impacting their own future and future of their communities. These products will add a more personal and more efficient capacity to technology already in place and widely used by young people. It is youth empowerment connected to technology, efficiency and reality. For more information, email info@youthlineamerica.org
